Scott L. Buckel, D.O.
Orthopaedic Surgeon, Shoulder & Elbow/Sports Medicine

Dr. Scott L. Buckel was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 12, 1975.  His mother and father continue to live in Indiana where his father practices Dermatology and Dermatopathology.  Dr. Buckel is a graduate of CarmelHigh School where he was a two-sport athlete in baseball and basketball.

 

Dr. Buckel performed his undergraduate studies at IndianaUniversity in Biology.  He obtained his medical degree at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002.  He then completed a Traditional Rotating Internship at Garden City Hospital which is part of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Dr. Buckel’s Orthopaedic Surgery Residency training took place at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA from 2003 to 2007.  He then matriculated in a Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship with Dr. George G. McCluskey III, MD in Columbus, GA from 2007 to 2008. 

 

Dr. Buckel is currently employed as an Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Badia Hand to ShoulderCenter in Doral, FL.  He assists Dr. Badia in treating patients that suffer from general orthopaedic conditions as well as sports medicine and shoulder injuries.  Dr. Buckel is on the medical staff for HialeahHospital and Palmetto General Hospital and helps treat patients with orthopaedic emergencies at both facilities. 

 

Dr. Buckel recently married Dr. Shalini Ramasunder, MD in June of 2007.  Dr. Ramasunder is currently matriculating in an Orthopaedic Oncology Fellowship at the University of Miami.  They moved to Miami Beach in August of 2008.  Dr. Buckel’s hobbies include travel, scuba diving, weight lifting, biking, surfing, and golf.
