Open house on Thursday, June 12 to showcase latest hand-to-shoulder treatments

MIAMI -- Miami-based Alejandro Badia, MD, one of the world's best known hand and upper limb surgeons, has completed work on a new facility in Doral to accommodate growing overseas demand for his specialty. The Badia Hand to Shoulder Center is billed as a state-of-the art surgical treatment facility focused on repair and replacement of diseased or injured bones and joints in the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder.

The new facility will treat sports and industrial injuries, as well as a wide range of joint replacement and repair technologies for arthritis sufferers. A significant proportion of patients will be from overseas, according to Dr. Badia.

"The US continues to be the leading, if not the only destination for thousands who cannot receive locally the best possible treatment of complex conditions in the upper extremities - from the tips of the fingers to the shoulder," Dr. Badia notes. "I have spent a lot of time traveling abroad, especially in South American and the Caribbean, addressing local physicians on the kinds of conditions that often cannot be treated without access to the advanced technologies we're fortunate enough to have in this country."

The new center is equipped with digital radiography and MRI imaging diagnostics, physical/occupational therapy facilities, and what Dr. Badia describes as the most technologically advanced operating rooms currently available.

The center is adjacent to three major highways and Miami International Airport for the convenience of doctors and patients arriving from South and Central America, the Caribbean and Europe.

An open house is being held at the Badia Hand-to-Shoulder Center, 3650 NW 82nd Avenue, Suite 103, Doral, FL, on Thursday, June 12 from 5:00pm - 9:00pm.

The event is open to the public with Dr. Badia and his staff conducting tours of the facility.

Dr. Badia studied physiology at Cornell University and obtained his medical degree at NYU, where he also trained in orthopedics. A hand surgery fellowship followed in Pittsburgh and Europe. He is currently Chief of Hand Surgery at Baptist Hospital.
